It doesn’t sound great for Anthony Gordon, who limped off at Chelsea on Monday night with a concerning knee injury.
According to The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, his sources have indicated that it looks to be a ‘serious injury’ for the winger based on initial inspection.
The winger is due to undergo a scan which will reveal the full extent of his injury, but it’s feared it may be bad enough to rule him out for the remainder of the season.
This would be a hammer blow for Eddie Howe – who revealed last night he was in a lot of pain after being withdrawn – and a massive shame for Gordon; our player of the season so far who was pushing for a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
Hopefully it’s not as bad as the early signs suggest, but he will certainly miss Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final at Man City along with Harvey Barnes, who missed out at Chelsea due to a minor hamstring injury that will be enough to keep him out once again this weekend.
Elsewhere, the game also comes too soon for Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson, Joelinton and Nick Pope, with our No 1 pushing to return next month and the Brazilian sidelined until May following surgery.
