There is a lot of hype surrounding the Virginia Tech football team for the 2024 season and for good reason. The Hokies and head coach Brent Pry had a lot of retainment from the 2023 season on both sides of the ball, but especially on offense.
Virginia Tech brings back almost all of their offensive production from 2023, including quarterback Kyron Drones, running back Bhayshul Tuten as well as four wide receivers, Jaylin Lane, Da’Quan Felton, Ali Jennings, and Stephen Gosnell. All of that should make it very easy for the Hokies to continue the fourth-longest current streak in the country.
Going into the season, the Hokies hold the fourth-longest streak in the country without being shut out. Here is the Top 5,
The streak nearly came to an end in 2023 on Nov. 4 when they lost, 34-3, at Louisville, and only a second-quarter 44-yard field goal from John Love as time expired kept Virginia Tech from being shut out. It was by far the most frustrating and lackluster offensive performance of the season in what was the biggest ACC game of the season.
This upcoming season, it would be stunning if the Hokies walked off the field being shut out. It might even be stunning if they walk into halftime of a game being shut out. Offensively, led by Drones, Virginia Tech should have no problem moving the ball and putting points on the board. If the Spring Game is any indication, then the offense could have a special season in 2024.
Virginia Tech’s offense will be one of the top ones in the ACC next season and if they stay healthy, they have an opportunity to put up a lot of big numbers, but it’s highly unlikely that they’ll put up a zero over fourth quarters in any games.
