According to Fabrizio Romano, former Newcastle striker has opted against extending his stay at Real Madrid in favour of a move to Qatar club Al Gharafa.
Since leaving the North East in 2019, Joselu’s career has taken a massive upwards turn, where he’s scored regularly for Alaves and Espanyol before securing a dream move to Real Madrid last summer on a loan-to-buy basis.
Though he knew he wouldn’t be starting most games, the attacker still managed to net double figures in La Liga while also playing a crucial role in the Champions League, where he scored twice in the semi final.
Despite Carlo Ancelotti making it clear that he wants the Spaniard to sign permanently for €1.5m, Joselu has opted for one last big pay-day in Qatar ahead of the 2024/25 season.
It’s safe to say that no Newcastle supporter would have predicted his sudden rise, with him starting in Spain’s Euro 2024 win over Albania last night, but it’s always good to see a former Magpie excelling after their time on Tyneside.
