According to the CVB, the event brought in an estimated $4.6 million to local restaurants, businesses and hotels and 2,794 overnight guests.

“That’s people staying in hotels, shopping in our stores, eating in our restaurants, enjoying our nightlife in Charleston,” Brady told Eyewitness News.

But where is that money actually going? Brady said it’s staying within the community.

“This is money that’s generated through retail spending, through hotel spending that stays in our community, that goes into the pockets of servers and housekeepers at the hotels,” he said. “That’s money that is generated in our community that stays in our community. That’s not tax revenue to the city alone. That’s money that improves things here in Charleston.

As the city focuses on bringing sports tourism to the Capital City, the city is excited to see the event return next May.

“I think next year we’re going to see exponential growth, because now people have a greater understanding of what this event is, how fun it is, how exciting it is and I think our crowds are going to get bigger next year,” Brady said.
