Another new signing comes into the club and it’s another goalkeeper, our third one since the window opened.
This appears though to be a case of ‘one for the future’ with 18-year-old James Taylor penning a two-year deal. The 6ft 3’ stopper joins from Hemel Hempstead town and will link up with the academy squad.
He has already appeared in Hemel Hempstead’s first team in the Vanarama National League and the FA Cup, with the non-league side saying, “The Tudors would like to take the time to congratulate former U18’s goalkeeper, James Taylor on securing a professional contract at Premier League side Newcastle United”.
Taylor has also captained England School boys at Under 18 level. Here’s a photo of the teenager at St James’ Park after sealing a move to Tyneside:
With the club having recently released a couple of youth goalkeepers, Will Brown and Jude Smith, this looks like the rebuild of the Academy squad continues.
