Joao Felix continues to be in limbo regarding over his future after returning to Atletico Madrid following the expiry of his loan spell at FC Barcelona.
The 24-year-old has been eager to return to the Catalan outfit, and Barça are open to re-signing him as well, as long as it is only on a loan deal.
However, with the focus being on Dani Olmo and Nico Williams currently, Joao Felix has slipped down the priority order of transfers at the moment.
But, the Catalans refuse to rule out a last-minute swoop for the Portuguese international while the player himself is prepared to wait until late in the window for the Blaugrana.
Aston Villa on the offensive
However, Premier League club Aston Villa are going on the offensive to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid at this point.
Indeed, according to SPORT, Unai Emery’s side are the most interested team in securing the Portuguese international and are prepared to go close to the €50 million fee that Atletico Madrid are seeking for him.

In fact, Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, held a meeting with the directors of Aston Villa recently to discuss the contract proposal and other details, if the move were to go through.
Joao Felix is currently on a contract worth around €300,000 per week at Atletico Madrid and while the Villans are not in a position to match those figures, they would still be willing to make him the highest-paid player at the club.
Indeed, the English club would offer a salary worth €176,618 per week, including bonuses, which would be more than what Diego Carlos, the current highest-paid star, earns.
It must also be remembered that Benfica are also in the picture for Felix and would be waiting to pounce once their finances were in order.
Barcelona, too, are lying in wait, knowing that Atletico Madrid would have to loan him out to them if no other deal goes through.
