Photos shared on the @NUFC X page this evening confirmed the welcome news that both Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon have returned to Little Benton for pre-season training.

The pair pictured below, who were both a part of Gareth Southgate’s 26 man England squad at this summer’s European Championships, complete the return of Newcastle First Team squad to pre-season training.

Trippier featured in six of England’s seven matches this summer, amassing 453 minutes of pitch time before losing his place to Luke Shaw for the final against Spain.

It proved however to be an incredibly frustrating tournament for Newcastle’s star boy Gordon, who featured for a grand total of two minutes in England’s lackluster draw with Slovenia, much to the disappointment and frustration of both the toon faithful and the wider country.

The city of Newcastle plays host to the Sela Cup over the weekend, welcoming Girona FC, AC Milan Women & Stade Brestois to St James Park for an action packed weekend of sport in the city. It remains to be seen whether the two will feature, but it is certainly welcoming to see them back amongst the lads at Benton.

Welcome Back!
