Barcelona’s La Masia academy has been churning out talents at an unreal rate in recent years. After the promotions of Gavi and Alejandro Balde, Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi and Fermin Lopez have now found their way into the first-team dynamics.
Heading into the new season, Marc Casado and Marc Bernal appear set for a major role in Hansi Flick’s plans. Of the talents remaining in the lower levels, Dani Rodriguez stands out as the next in line.
Renewal sealed
The teenage starlet is widely regarded as one of the academy’s best young wingers at the moment. While he primarily plays on the left flank, he is capable of performing on the right side as well.
The Catalans have been in a hurry to secure his future amidst growing interest from other clubs. Sealing the winger’s renewal was far from simple given the constant attention from Real Sociedad and Athletic Club.
However, the transaction appears to be completed and an announcement of his extension is expected soon as revealed by SPORT.
It is expected that the 18-year-old winger will be signing a new five-year contract with Barcelona with improved wages.

Barcelona’s pursuit of a new left-winger has not quite gone to plan this summer with Nico Williams looking likely to stay in the Basque country for next season.
Having lost out on their top target, Barcelona will thus be in need of a replacement left-winger as they do not possess that profile in the current squad.
Rodriguez, thus, is of interest to the management and Hansi Flick is attentive to his progress and form. At this point, it is safe to say that the youngster could well get his chances over the coming season.
Rodriguez was unavailable to do pre-season under the German tactician due to his involvement in the UEFA U-19 European Championship with Spain.
