FC Barcelona’s pre-season tour in the United States has concluded, yielding several important lessons.
Certain players have made strong cases for their continuity like Pau Victor and Pablo Torre, while others have fallen down the pecking order and face the possibility of an exit.
Among those who struggled for regular game-time was Mika Faye, who missed the opening games vs Olot and Man City due to physical issues.
The 20-year-old was later played out of position against AC Milan, given the competition for places at centre-back, which does not bode well for the youngster.

With an exit on the cards for Faye, Santi Aouna has come out to report that French side AS Monaco has shown a strong interest in the Senegalese international’s services.
Initial discussions between the two clubs have already taken place, indicating a serious pursuit of the 20-year-old central defender.
Meanwhile, OGC Nice has also entered the fray with a formal offer for Faye as they look adamant about shoring up their defensive options.

While the youngster showed encouraging signs for Barcelona Atletic, the Catalans look forward to leveraging his market value to acquire some necessary funds.
After all, Barcelona’s backline is stacked to the brim and Faye is unlikely to receive ample game-time, rendering him a disposable asset.
Moreover, the club have always laid emphasis on producing defenders who are proficient in ball-playing ability. Although Faye is no slouch playing out from the back, he falls behind many of his peers in that aspect, notably thriving for his physicality.
It remains to be seen if either of the two French suitors end up meeting Barcelona’s valuation for the Senegalese international who has a contract running until 2027.
