Miguel Almiron’s proposed return to America has collapsed.

According to Fabrizio Romano, MLS side Charlotte FC have left negotiations for the Newcastle United winger, as the two clubs were unable to agree a fee.

Romano reports that there was an initial agreement on the terms of his contract with the North Carolina club, but they were unable to strike a deal with Newcastle; who were requesting a fee that was ‘too high’ for Charlotte FC.

The MLS’ transfer deadline is at midnight tonight, meaning Toon chiefs must now look elsewhere if they wish to move on the 30-year-old Paraguayan.

Last night CBS’ Tom Bogert reported that Charlotte FC’s opening offer came in at around $10m (£7.8m), but fell well short of Newcastle’s $20m (£15.5m) valuation. However, it seems no compromise has been reached and the MLS side have walked away from a deal.
