With their efforts to register Dani Olmo in La Liga by sanctioning player exits not bearing fruit, Barcelona seem to have moved to a different tactic to get his enrolment completed.
It has been close to three weeks since Olmo was signed but he has not yet been registered in La Liga, leading him to miss the first two matches of the season and causing some annoyance in the player’s camp.
Despite parting ways with the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Clement Lenglet and getting rid of their big salaries, Barcelona are still not in a position to register Olmo.
Barcelona trying to register Olmo through Christensen’s injury
As such, now, DiariARA reports that Barcelona are working to get Olmo registered in La Liga by making use of Andreas Christensen’s injury-enforced absence.
The Catalans resorted to this tactic back in January, registering Vitor Roque in the space of Gavi, who was out for the season due to an ACL injury.
Earlier this summer, the Blaugrana once again used the strategy to register Inigo Martinez capitalising on the four-month-long absence of Ronald Araujo through injury.

Now, efforts are being made to follow the same method to register Olmo, this time in place of Christensen, who is said to be out for at least two months due to an Achilles tendon issue.
The difficulty is that the management led by Javier Tebas must consider that the Danish defender’s absence is, at least, four months to be able to use his salary space in financial
fair play and register Olmo.
Barça officially informed on Friday of Christensen’s absence due to tendinopathy in the left Achilles and sent the medical report to La Liga soon after with the intention of showing that the Dane’s layoff is long-term.
In fact, Barça hoped that this report would already serve for Olmo to play against Athletic Club.
