WHITE 2-2 COOPER (82-24)Well, that is surely curtains for this frame as Josh misses the final red to green bag. It heads back across table for Jimmy to sink, and finalise the frame in his favour. White one up with a possible two to play. WHITE 2-2 COOPER (56-7)Josh missed a tricky red along length of top cushion, and it looks like he might pay a heavy price here. Jimmy adding a 40 break, his highest of the day so far, to move 50 clear with four reds remaining above board. WHITE 2-2 COOPER (16-6)Black has gone safe onto a side cushion in this fifth frame of a possible seven. Jimmy would love to conjure up some of his old white magic to scramble over the line. Isn’t scoring enough here. Which he wll know. WHITE 2-1 COOPER (15-63)White adds 14, but a red doesn’t drop and he concedes the frame. We are all square at 2-2. Which way is this going to fall? Wide open now in the race to four, and a spot in the second round. WHITE 2-1 COOPER (1-63)This has been a superb knock from the amateur hopeful, who has suddenly come to life in this match. Jimmy missed a brown, and has been forced to take a seat. Break ends on 63, but that should be good enough to restore parity at 2-2. A delightful contribution at any level of the game. WHITE 2-1 COOPER (1-51)Coops suddenly letting off the handbrake in racing to a rapid break of 45. Which is like a golden period in the context of this arid contest. Could we be witnessing a one-visit hit from Josh? Looks very confident, and is stroking the white with real authority. WHITE 2-1 COOPER (1-13)Jimmy drops in a long red, but then misses a brown off the spot. Clearly a lack of concentration because that is a gimme. Cooper certainly given plenty of scope to remain active in this match. WHITE 1-1 COOPER (64-42)Well, that is not good from Jimmy as a blue to clinch frame with rest eludes him. Plenty of chances to move 2-1 clear, but not yet taken. And then right on cue, White cans a fine blue to yellow pocket to see it out. Far from vintage fare, but Jimbo regains the advantage. WHITE 1-1 COOPER (59-35)Jimmy just needing to roll in red along baulk cushion and into pocket to clinch frame, but it sticks in the jaws. Still life in frame yet then heading for the final few colours. The blue on a side rail might yet save White. WHITE 1-1 COOPER (59-17)Jimmy regaining the upper hand at key time in this battle. A break of 28 this time. Not quite over the line, but the reds are not well placed for a counter attack from Cooper. WHITE 1-1 COOPER (31-7)Jimmy running in 27, but then misses a red to right centre. Which will surely give his opponent heart. Neither man truly finding top gear so far in Brentwood. WHITE 1-1 COOPER (4-0)Nothing wrong with Jimmy’s long game so far with a superb long red disappearing, but he produces a positional shocker on the green as white races into the pack of reds. Big margin of error to land on the next red. But he will need to wait for another opportunity. WHITE 1-0 COOPER (5-55)Jimmy misses black with the rest, and has seen enough of this frame. A bit of a crowd gathering to watch the action in Brentwood with the icon taking centre stage. Essex always been a real snooker stronghold. We are level at 1-1. WHITE 1-0 COOPER (4-55)Not exactly sprinting over the line, but in drops the key blue needed by Joshua, and Jimmy will needs three reds with blacks and the colours to tie the frame as Cooper declares on 25. A possible 51 left on table. WHITE 1-0 COOPER (4-36)Brilliant recovery pot on a red to right middle by Cooper to keep the break going on 21, but he then misses a black off the pot before Jimmy butchers an easy red of his own. All gone very tense and scrappy early on. But Cooper slowly building a handy lead in bits and pieces. WHITE 1-0 COOPER (4-10)Josh having a dart at a long red. Makes a bit of a mess at that effort, and chance falls to White, but he ends up jawing a mid-range blue. Not the best from Jimmy, and he knows it as he heads back to his chair. WHITE 1-0 COOPER (3-9)Jimmy breaks down early on this time after floating in a lovely long red. Can only add a yellow to the total, and Joshua has chance to make some progress of his own. But he loses the white on nine. Just the safety, and a run for cover to baulk for Coops. Still getting to grips with the occasion a bit here. WHITE 0-0 COOPER (90-8)Jimbo adding a quick 35 to the opening 33 which leaves Josh needing a couple of gas cookers. Should surely be a done deal here. And is as Coops breaks down on eight. The Whirlwind back among the balls, and this opening frame is blowing with the Wind. He leads 1-0 in the race to four. WHITE 0-0 COOPER (56-0)Jimmy not wasting any time on what he hopes will be a good Friday. Get the impression young Joshua is yet to settle in his surroundings on the TV table, but for White this is like getting up in the morning for a spot of breakfast. Easing into the day with a second chance to put the opening frame to bed. WHITE 0-0 COOPER (33-0)Golden chance for Jimmy to do some serious damage straight off the bat here.
