On Thursday, reports emerged claiming that FC Barcelona have shown an interest in signing Bayern Munich left-back and long-time Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies.
The Blaugrana are looking to add top-tier competition for Alejandro Balde in the left-back position and see Davies as a viable signing given his contract at Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season.
Davies dreams of Real Madrid
However, according to German journalist Christian Falk on Caught Offside, Davies is ‘still dreaming’ of joining Real Madrid even though he has other interested parties like Manchester United, as well as Barcelona.
The update from the journalist claims that Bayern Munich have currently hit a pause on contract negotiations with Davies’ agent, Nick Huoseh, primarily because of the salary demands of around €20 million per year.
“Alphonso Davies is still dreaming of Real Madrid. Bayern Munich have taken a break on contract talks,” Falk told Caught Offside.

“They don’t want to engage in discussions with his agent, Nick Huoseh, any more, as they think the salary demands are too high. They don’t want to pay him over €20m a year.”
Such contractual demands could also put off Barcelona, who are trying their best to keep their salary bill under control.
Falk also added that there have been talks with Real Madrid, but no major movement as far as Manchester United are concerned.
“If United are willing to pay this, they would be a big competitor for Real Madrid. At the moment, I heard of talks with Real Madrid but I’ve yet to hear the same for Manchester United.
However, despite the talks with Real Madrid the presence of Hansi Flick, who helped Davies develop at Bayern Munich, could become a telling factor in favour of Barcelona.
