The Indian capital, New Delhi, experienced its first peak of air pollution of the “season” on Wednesday, November 13. The concentration of PM2.5 microparticles, the most dangerous because they diffuse directly into the blood, have reached up to 50 times the threshold deemed tolerable by the World Health Organization. To the daily smoke produced by industries and vehicles are added, during this period, those of agricultural burning to create a cloud that the colder temperatures and weaker winds press on the city and its 30 million inhabitants.
