BermudAir is the first carrier to be headquartered on the island, which is about 900 miles nearly due east of the South Carolina coastline. Markets are chosen based on where passenger traffic originates, Scott said.
“There’s a great deal of interest in Charleston from the Bermuda side and we expect a similar level of interest from those in Charleston,” he said. “Right now, Bermuda is only a two-hour flight away, but you can’t get there without at least one or two connections.”

Scott said BermudAir sees its nonstop service as a way to “reconnect the dots,” especially for airports like Charleston International that have never had a direct route to the island. Making that business model sustainable relies on the flexibility that its mid-sized aircraft flies, so the airline spends less time filling empty seats.
Bermuda is known as a vibrant, tropical and cosmopolitan getaway with blush-colored sand, crystal caves, coral reefs, historic sites and an international finance sector.
“When someone boards a flight to Bermuda, we want them to feel like their time in Bermuda started the minute they boarded the aircraft,” Scott said. “The food is sourced from Bermuda, most of the staff is Bermudian, and we serve the island’s national drink the Dark ‘n’ Stormy. We want it to feel authentic because it is.”
