Cuba secured a huge win against The Bahamas with a 76-62 victory at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva in Havana, Cuba, on Friday. This victory marks Cuba’s second win in the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) AmeriCup 2025 Qualifiers, propelling them to second place in Group D in the qualifiers.

The Bahamas opened the game by scoring the first basket but Cuba quickly responded, tying the game and then taking a lead they would maintain throughout. The Cuban team outperformed their opponents in all four quarters, steadily increasing their lead to finish with a comfortable double-digit margin of victory.

Cuba’s success came from a balanced offensive strategy, with contributions from multiple players. Four Cuban players scored in double digits, while two others added nine and eight points each. This collective effort was key to their victory, as they effectively utilized a team-oriented approach to scoring.

For The Bahamas, all nine registered players managed to score. However, much of their offensive burden fell on Tavario Miller and Radshad Davis. Miller tallied 17 points and eight rebounds, while Davis contributed 17 points, four rebounds and two steals. Together, they accounted for 34 of the team’s 62 points.

Despite The Bahamas showing strength in certain statistical areas, Cuba’s consistent scoring and defensive play made the difference. The Cuban team capitalized on their opportunities and maintained control throughout the match.

With this victory, Cuba has positioned itself strongly in Group D, demonstrating their competitive edge in the qualifiers. Their ability to draw on multiple players for scoring highlights their depth and strategic execution on the court.

The Bahamas, while showing individual talent, will need to enhance their team play to improve in future matches. They will have an opportunity to bounce back as they face the United States (US) tonight at 7:10 p.m.

Cuba’s win sets a positive tone for their upcoming games in the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 Qualifiers, as they continue to build on their momentum and aim for further success in the tournament. Meanwhile, The Bahamas will look to regroup and refine their approach as they prepare for their next challenge against a formidable US team.

The Bahamas is now in fourth place in the four-team group with a 1-2 win/loss record and just the top three will advance to the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup, set for August 23-31, 2025, at the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello in Managua, Nicaragua.
