The New York Yankees have spent the majority of the offseason in the spotlight as their star outfielder Juan Soto was the top free agent in this year’s class.
After losing the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Yankees also experienced heartbreak as Soto signed with the New York Mets.
The Yankees were able to rebound as they have added multiple key pieces for the 2025 season.
Although the roster looks good heading into the season, they will be without longtime infielder Gleyber Torres after he signed with the Detroit Tigers.
Upon his departure, Torres posted a farewell message to the Yankees organization and its fans.
“Yankees Fans, thank you for everything. Thank you for the unconditional support, you were always there to motivate me when I had good times, and not so good times,” Torres wrote, via B/R Walk-Off.

Torres debuted in 2018 with the Yankees and has been with the organization for his entire seven-year career.
Although Torres had rocky times, he was grateful for his time spent with the team.
In 2024, Torres played 154 games and batted .257 with 15 home runs, 63 RBIs and a .709 OPS.
Torres will now join a young Tigers team that surprised many by making the postseason and knocking off the Houston Astros in 2024.
The Yankees head into 2025 with a different look than their World Series team in 2024 but still appear to be one of the best clubs in the American League.
After making their first World Series appearance since 2009, the Yankees will look to make another postseason run and win their 28th title in franchise history.
