The captains’ meet forward of the Champions Trophy 2025 has been cancelled, in line with a report in Cricket Pakistan. Already there have been lot of speculations that India captain Rohit Sharma might not attend the occasion in Pakistan. Now the contemporary report says the captains’ occasion was cancelled as a result of ‘delayed arrival’ of a number of groups. The report quoted ICC sources as saying England and Australia are arriving in Pakistan later than deliberate. England will attain Lahore on February 18, whereas Australia will arrive the following day. The Champions Trophy 2025 begins with a match between Pakistan and New Zealand. In such a situation, a captains’ meet will not be possible, mentioned the report.
India will play its matches in Dubai. India’s group consists Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) together with the ICC will maintain the opening ceremony of the upcoming Champions Trophy on February 16 in Lahore.
The PCB will formally open the renovated Gaddafi stadium on February 7 for which Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has been invited because the chief visitor.
On February 11, the PCB will launch the renovated Nationwide Stadium in Karachi with a ceremony wherein President Asif Ali Zardari has been invited because the chief visitor.
The opening ceremony is scheduled at Huzoori Bagh on the historic Lahore fort wherein officers of various boards, celebrities, legends of the sport, and authorities officers can be invited.
The ICC and PCB are but to verify if Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, could be travelling to Lahore for the occasions.
India can be enjoying their Champions Trophy matches in Dubai as a part of a hybrid mannequin deal between the ICC, PCB and BCCI and in the event that they qualify for the ultimate, then the title conflict would even be held within the UAE metropolis on March 9.
