LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Metro officer arrested by state police on suspicion of his first DUI sped away from the trooper who pulled him over, unable to remain in his lane and “leaving dust in the roadway,” paperwork obtained by the 8 Information Now Investigators reveal.
The Nevada Freeway Patrol arrested Zachary David Louis after 10:00 p.m. Wednesday close to the intersection of Shady Timber Road and Buckskin Avenue within the Shadow Hills neighborhood of Las Vegas, not removed from the exit of the 215 and West Cheyenne Avenue, a state police trooper’s report mentioned.
Metro despatched a launch Friday morning outlining eight expenses in opposition to Louis, who has been with the LVMPD since 2020.
“Louis will be placed on suspension of police powers with pay pending further investigation,” Metro’s launch mentioned.

Because the trooper started to drag over Louis, who was driving a white Dodge Ram pickup truck, close to the 215 and West Cheyenne exit, on the finish of the ramp, “the vehicle turned right … and began to accelerate away at a high rate of speed,” the report mentioned.
The trooper chased Louis, who ran two purple lights, following the pickup truck at speeds of as much as 85 miles an hour in a 35 mph zone, the report mentioned. Throughout the pursuit, Louis modified instructions and weaved forwards and backwards via visitors.
