Ohio State has secured a commitment from Zion Grady, who is ranked 66th overall and the 6th edge defender in the 2025 class by 247 Sports. Grady, a 4-star prospect from Enterprise High School in Alabama, had initially committed to Alabama before reopening his recruitment due to Nick Saban’s retirement. His decision to join Ohio State adds to the impressive lineup of defensive line talent recruited by Larry Johnson.
Zion Grady, known for his explosiveness, is a versatile player on the defensive line who can play various positions at the line of scrimmage. Standing at 6’4 and weighing 235 pounds, Grady’s length and quickness aid him in creating separation when rushing the quarterback. When he joins Ohio State, the Buckeyes may look for him to add more weight to fit into the traditional defensive end role in their formation.
In his 2023 season, Zion Grady showcased his abilities with 87 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks. Additionally, he forced 3 turnovers with 3 forced fumbles and an interception, making him one of the most productive edge rushers in his class.
Zion Grady’s commitment strengthens Ohio State’s defensive line, which is part of the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class according to 247 Sports. The Buckeyes boast three 5-star, thirteen 4-star, and three 3-star commitments, with three edge defenders in the mix - Grady, Zahir Mathis, and London Merritt.
