Exceptional Coaching by Kenny Sanchez
The Coach of the Year title goes to Kenny Sanchez of Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. Sanchez guided the Gaels to an incredible ninth consecutive state title. Despite early losses to formidable out-of-state opponents, Gorman rallied under Sanchez’s leadership, culminating in a dominant 48-7 victory over Reed in the state final.
Offensive Stars Shine Bright
Cade McNamara from Damonte Ranch in Reno emerges as the Offensive Player of the Year. The talented junior quarterback showcased his skills by throwing for 3,470 yards and 44 touchdowns, propelling the Mustangs to an impressive 11-1 record and the Division I Northern Region semifinals. McNamara’s commitment to Notre Dame is a testament to his prowess on the field, consistently delivering multiple touchdown passes in each of the 12 games played and achieving four or more scores in seven games.
The All-Star Offensive Lineup
First Team honorees include standout players like QB Cade McNamara, RB Abel Carter from Carson, RB Peyton Dixon from Bishop Manogue, WR Jalen Nailor, WR Marquez Powell, TE Brevin Jordan, and a formidable offensive line featuring players like Eric Brown, Troy Fautanu, Logan Hutcherson, Jacob Isaia, and Beau Taylor.
Second Team offensive standouts consist of QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, RBs Jason Painter and Aubrey Washington, WRs Dru Jacobs and Cedric Tillman, TE Daniel Bellinger, and OL athletes Damieon Garcia, John Keeley, Ryan Madole, Harry McKeon, and Syvone Sistrunk.
Defensive Prowess on Display
Palaie Gaoteote from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas earns the title of Defensive Player of the Year. The senior linebacker, initially from Mililani, Hawaii, delivered exceptional performance in the Gaels’ successful title defense, recording 80 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 12 quarterback hurries, and three sacks. Gaoteote, a committed USC prospect, showcased his skills on the field.
Elite Defensive Players Recognized
First Team defensive talents include players like DL Crishaun Lappin, DL Branden Lopez, DL Adam Plant, DL Eric Schmitz, LBs Amere Foster, Palaie Gaoteote, Brandon Kaho, and DBs Octavian Bell, Isaiah Herron, Josh Hong, and Kyu Kelly.
On the Second Team, defensive standouts consist of DL Richie Garcia, DL John Thomson, DL Charles Tuavao, DL Elijah Wade, LBs Anthony Allen, Vance Day, Siaosi Finau, and DBs John Harper, George Moreno, Allan Mwata, and Jake Polson.
Special Teams Excellence
JD Kolb from McQueen in Reno showcased his exceptional skills as a kick returner, earning a spot as the KR on the Special Teams roster. His contributions were crucial in the team‘s success during the season.
With a stellar lineup of talented athletes and exceptional coaching, the 2017 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Nevada Football Team represents the pinnacle of high school football excellence in the state.
