The McLaren F1 team has announced the extension of Andrea Stella’s contract as Team Principal. This decision follows a series of commendable performances in the first half of the current season, where under Stella’s leadership, the Woking-based squad secured two Grand Prix victories and 12 podium finishes.
Since assuming the role in December 2022, Stella has been pivotal in McLaren’s resurgence in Formula One. Before his elevation to Team Principal, he served as McLaren’s Head of Race Operations and Performance Director, after being promoted to Executive Director of Racing in 2019. His illustrious career began at Ferrari, where he was for 15 years and worked closely with F1 legends such as seven-time champion Michael Schumacher, 2007 champion Kimi Räikkönen, and two-time champion Fernando Alonso as a Performance Engineer and Race Engineer.
Reflecting on the extension, Andrea Stella expressed deep appreciation for his role and the progress the team has achieved. He stated in a press release from the team:
