Chile’s Storyboard Media, run by Gabriela Sandoval and Carlos Nuñez, has boarded crime drama “Wildness” (“Salvajes”) by two of Latin America’s leading women filmmakers, Claudia Huaiquimilla from Chile and Peru’s Joanna Lombardi.

Pact was sealed at Madrid-based confab Iberseries & Platino Industria where the project participates in the annual event’s co-production forum.

Written by Diego Vega (“October,” “El Mudo”), “Wildness” is a crime drama inspired by actual events that traces the explosive encounter between a fading Parisian model and a young surfer who deal in drugs to fund their lavish lifestyle. Set in the 1970s, the story begins in Paris and spirals toward tragedy on the remote shores of Peru.

Said Sandoval: “We are very excited to finally collaborate with Joanna Lombardi, as we have been exploring ways to join forces and develop a film together for some time now. ‘Wildness’ seems like the perfect project to move forward with, not only taking advantage of the new co-production agreement between Chile and Peru, but also because, cinematically, it’s a film that will make an impact at festivals and resonate with global audiences…a perfect mix.”

“’Wildness’ is a bit like a modern ‘Bonnie and Clyde,’ a genre film but brought into the Latin American reality, with everything that entails. It’s a great joy to announce this co-production with Storyboard. I can’t think of a better project to finally work with Gaby and Carlos. We’re very excited for what’s to come,” said Lombardi.

Sandoval, Núñez, Lombardi and Ricardo Chadwick, serve as producers from their respective companies, Storyboard (Chile), El Arbol Azul (Peru) and La Family (Peru).

Huaiquimilla is best known for her drama “My Brothers Dream Awake” which had its premiere at the Cineasti del Presente competition at the 74th Locarno Film Festival. It won a clutch of awards since, including from the Toulouse Latin American Film Festival where it snagged the Audience Award and the Grand Prix in 2022. Her other credits are “Bad Influence” and TV series “42 Days of Darkness,” among others.

Lombardi is a writer, director and producer and was named by Forbes Peru as one of the “50 Most Powerful Women of Peru” this year. Her body of work ranges from dramas like “In House,” and “Alone” to docu-fiction hybrid “Quedate quieto” and romcoms such as “How to Deal with a Heartbreak.”

Storyboard Media, among the most prolific producers in Chile, also runs the prominent Santiago International Film Festival (Sanfic). Its latest drama “Maybe It’s True What They Say About Us” recently competed in the San Sebastian Film Festival.

Casting is still underway for the project which is slated to shoot by April and May of 2026 in Peru and France.

The 4th Iberseries & Platino Industria runs Oct. 1- 4.
