MHS Health Wisconsin to Present Mobile Produce Pantry in Madison on October 19, 2024
WEST ALLIS, Wis., Oct. 17, 2024 /PRNewswire/ – MHS Health Wisconsin is excited to announce the Green to Go Mobile Produce Pantry and Health Fair scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Warner Park Rainbow Pavilion located at 2930 N. Sherman Avenue in Madison, WI.
Free Fresh Produce Distribution
In collaboration with Hy-Vee grocery stores, MHS Health will distribute complimentary fresh fruits and vegetables while supplies last. Attendees can expect a variety of produce items such as apples, bananas, potatoes, bell peppers, and plantains.
Susan Miller, Senior Manager of Community Advocacy at MHS Health Wisconsin stated: “With food prices increasing and economic hurdles affecting our families more than ever before, getting access to fresh produce has become increasingly challenging for many households. Food insecurity is a major concern that we take very seriously; that’s why we are dedicated to addressing this issue.” She continued by saying the aim of this initiative is “to provide essential support and resources that enhance community health—because everyone should have the right to nutritious foods and healthcare.”
Engaging Activities for Families
Families attending the event will have opportunities not only to collect fresh produce but also engage with a registered dietitian from Hy-Vee who will be available for consultations on healthy eating habits and recipe suggestions. Participants can sample delicious snacks made from plantains during their visit!
