Starbucks, in partnership with Premium Restaurants of America (PRA), has opened its first store in Honduras.

The store, located in San Pedro Sula, marks the 26th market for the brand in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and the 88th market globally. It began welcoming customers on 10 December and also offers a drive-thru service.

“We are proud to open our first Starbucks store in Honduras, marking a significant milestone in our long-standing partnership with Starbucks,” says Sofia Flores, Country Manager of Starbucks Honduras.

“This new café in San Pedro Sula is just the beginning, as we plan to expand the brand across the Honduran market, creating new opportunities for our partners (employees) and serving handcrafted beverages to even more customers.”

The store features artwork inspired by Honduran culture, including a mural designed by artist Dalia Balmaceda inside the store portraying a coffee farm landscape, with six farmers symbolising Honduras’ coffee-growing regions: Copán, Opalaca, Montecillos, Comayagua, El Paraíso, and Agalta.

It will also celebrate Honduras’ coffee heritage by offering Honduras Cafico Reserve, local delicacies such as pan catracho and semitas, and exclusive Been There mugs reflecting the country’s coffee culture.

All 36 of the Honduran partners hired for the San Pedro Sula store were trained in El Salvador for one to three months ahead of the store opening to learn about the Starbucks Experience and preparing handcrafted espresso-based beverages.

Starbucks has supported Honduran communities through The Starbucks Foundation, focusing on clean water access, empowering women in coffee, and assisting marginalised youth. Recent initiatives include expanding clean water efforts with Planet Water Foundation, empowering more than 1800 women in coffee production through entrepreneurship and education, and awarding a $10,000 grant to support job training for 125 vulnerable youth in Honduras.

“At Starbucks, we believe in making a positive impact in the communities we serve. Our new store in San Pedro Sula is not just about offering a great coffee experience – it’s also about supporting our local neighbourhoods and creating meaningful connections with the community,” says Ricardo Arias-Nath, Senior Vice President of Latin American and the Caribbean.
