Week 18 doesn’t offer many competitive games besides the battle for the NFC’s No. 1 seed between the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions.

The Lions have been in the driver’s seat all year, but Minnesota has now won nine in a row to match the Lions at 14-2 and set up a showdown on Sunday Night Football for the NFC North crown and the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

One former player has an inkling of who might win this one and recently gave his prediction on air.

On Friday’s episode of “The Facility,” former Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones picked the Lions to take down the Vikings on SNF, saying, “I trust (Jared) Goff more in this situation, too, and I trust the Detroit Lions. I’m going with the better quarterback, the quarterback that has been in games like this, been in situations like this before. Not only that, they beat the Vikings at home, and Jared Goff had to really finish that game off on his right arm and make some plays.”

The Lions have endured many injuries on defense and could use the bye week to get healthy.

In contrast, the Vikings head into this matchup relatively healthy and riding high on an incredible win streak.

The Lions are also undefeated in the NFC North and have looked like the best team in the NFC all year, thanks to their explosive and innovative offense.

Minnesota’s defense and quarterback Sam Darnold’s resurgence have made them one of the league’s most incredible stories.

This game has all the makings of a classic.
