A draft memo from the Workplace of Administration and Price range (OMB) is elevating the chance that furloughed federal staff will not be entitled to again pay from their day without work throughout the federal government shutdown.
An administration official confirmed to The Hill that the memo, which was first reported by Axios, hinges on an aggressive interpretation of the Authorities Worker Truthful Remedy Act of 2019, which President Trump signed over the last authorities shutdown.
The OMB memo argues the regulation doesn’t robotically assure that every one furloughed workers are assured again pay. It cites a line within the amended model of the regulation, which states that furloughed staff will obtain again pay “topic to the enactment of appropriations Acts ending the lapse.”
