Houston is the dirtiest city in the United States – that’s what one study says, at least.
Late last month, LawnStarter released its 2023 rankings of the 150 biggest cities in the U.S. and how dirty they are. The study evaluated pollution, living conditions, infrastructure and consumer satisfaction.
Here’s how Houston ranked in other categories.
Soaring at the top of the list, Houston earned high in several categories. It even clinched the top spot for what was possibly the grossest category in the study: the share of homes with cockroaches (or signs of them).
First place: Number of junk yardsThird place: Metric tons of CO2e from large facilities per capitaFifth place: Share of homes with sewage issues
It also ranked 22nd for the share of residents unhappy with pollution
