As has become extremely clear now, FC Barcelona are working to sign both Nico Williams and Dani Olmo in the current transfer window.
The Blaugrana have already tabled a contract offer for Nico and are prepared to activate his €58 million release clause as soon as they receive the final OK from the 22-year-old.
As for Olmo, his €60 million release clause expired recently but there appears to be a gentleman’s agreement between him and RB Leipzig that they will let him go for the same price.
Barcelona’s first offer shot down
Last week, we reported that Barcelona had tabled a six-year contract proposal for Olmo.
More talks took place with the club director Deco meeting with the Spaniard’s agents on Wednesday.
Now, SPORT reports that in parallel to their contract negotiations with Olmo, Barcelona have also submitted their first offer for the 26-year-old to RB Leipzig.

The exact numbers of the offer made by the Catalan giants have not been revealed, but as per the report, it is very low and well below the Bundesliga club’s demands, and as such has been shot down.
Apart from rejecting the proposal for it being very low, RB Leipzig also turned it down as they did not like the payment conditions that Barcelona had put forward.
As such, the Blaugrana must now return with an improved offer while parallelly working to agree on contract terms with Olmo himself if they intend to close his signing.
The former La Masia starlet was one of the stars for Spain during their successful UEFA Euro 2024 run. His familiarity with the club’s ways as well as his versatility are something that appeal to the Catalans.
But RB Leipzig will not give Olmo away cheaply and will want any interested club to meet at least the €60 million mark from his expired release clause.
