Chattanooga Athletics Promotes Evan Wilson to Director of Sports Medicine, Announces Additional Athletic Training Changes

CHATTANOOGA (July 25, 2024) — The Chattanooga Athletics Department announced the promotion of Evan Wilson (Chattanooga ’15) to Director of Sports Medicine ahead of the 2024-25 athletics season while also elevating additional sports medicine staffers in the process.
 
Earning both his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2015 and Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2018 at UTC, Wilson has been a Moc through and through as he enters his fifth overall season as professional in the department.
 
Interning at in-state foe ETSU in 2018 and serving as a football trainer at Samford in 2019, Wilson returned to the Scenic City and has been an integral part of the Mocs football program, among others, ever since. The promotion is a product of hard work and now, accomplished goals.
 
“Since graduating from UTC in 2018, and after several rewarding years here, it has been my goal to become the Director of Sports Medicine. I am grateful to everyone who has supported me along this journey.” said Wilson.
 
“UTC holds a special place in my heart, and I am thrilled to continue contributing to this wonderful community and its student-athletes. I am excited to hit the ground running and support the continued success and well-being of our athletes.”
 
Wilson takes over for former Assistant AD for Sports Medicine Dr. Nathan Barger, who recently accepted a professional position outside of athletics in the Chattanooga area. Additional sports medicine department promotions and changes are below.

Brittney Wilson – Associate Athletic Trainer, Elevated Role (Football)
4th Season at Chattanooga in 2024-25

Brittney Wilson enters her fourth season at UTC ahead of the 2024-25 athletic year and will primarily work with the football program under an Associate Athletic Trainer title. Wilson previously served as the softball program’s head athletic trainer over the past few seasons and helped the program capture Southern Conference titles in 2022 and 2024 under her sports medicine direction. 

Before earning her Masters in Athletic Training at UTC, Wilson initially served as an athletic training intern for the Mocs men’s and women’s cross country and track and field programs following a four-year Division I softball career at Alabama State. Wilson graduated magna cum laude from Alabama State with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies-Recreational Therapy and Psychology.

Caroline Bass – Elevated to Associate Athletic Trainer (Soccer & Tennis)
3rd Season at Chattanooga in 2024-25

Caroline Bass has been elevated to an Associate Athletic Trainer, primarily working with the soccer and both tennis programs, while entering her third season at UTC ahead of the 2024-25 athletic year. Bass has worked with the same programs over the past two seasons following her internship with football and women’s tennis at UTC during the 2021-22 athletic year.

Before serving as an Intern Athletic Trainer with the women’s soccer, football, and both basketball programs at Appalachian State in 2020-21, Bass completed her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 2020. The St. Louis, Mo., native earned her Master’s in Education with a focus in Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology also from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 2021.
