Newcastle look set to be without six players for Sunday’s trip to Bournemouth, with the club having an appeal rejected by the FA following Fabian Schar’s red card last weekend.

The unsuccessful appeal means he’ll also miss next week’s Carabao Cup clash with Nottingham Forest and our Premier League meeting with Spurs the following weekend.

Callum Wilson (back) will sit out Sunday’s game against his former club, while Lewis Miley (foot), Sven Botman (ACL) and Jamaal Lasclles (ACL) have also been ruled out. It’s also the last time Sandro Tonali will be absent through suspension, with the Italian eligible to return from Wednesday 28th August.

Eddie Howe has revealed that new signing Lloyd Kelly is “pushing for a start” ahead of his to the South Coast, revealing that h’s “trained really well” and praising the 25-year-old for his cameo in last week’s 1-0 win over Southampton, where he filled in effectively at left-back.

Howe on injuries – “There has not been much change. Matt [Targett] has had a bit more training under his belt this week, a good 45 minutes for him for the U21s. We are pretty much as we were.”

Howe on Lloyd Kelly – “Lloyd is in good condition; he didn’t have a lot of match action. He trained for roughly three weeks and trained really well. He has made a really positive impact with the group. I have been really impressed by his performances, especially when he came on in a difficult situation for us. He would say he is ready and he is pushing for a start.”
