Despite all the current doom and gloom surrounding the transfer situation at FC Barcelona due to their FFP issues, the club are still working to try and get in at least one more signing before the window closes.
It is clear that any move would be dependent on the FFP situation, and with Nike and Barça Vision deals not being completed in time, the club board would have to offer up financial guarantees to sign and register any player.
A new defensive midfielder or a centre-back are being considered by the Catalan club with targets identified.
Jonathan Tah appears to be the preferred option for the centre-back position, but earlier this week, Barcelona were also said to have made enquiries for RB Leipzig’s Mohamed Simakan.
Newcastle, Liverpool also keen
However, now, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Barcelona are not the only team showing an interest in Mohamed Simakan.
Indeed, Premier League giants Liverpool have also made an enquiry for the RB Leipzig defensive ace while Newcastle United are also considering a swoop for the Frenchman before the transfer window closes.

RB Leipzig, for their part, are open to negotiations for Simakan, who can play at centre-back and right-back, for the right offers.
However, considering that he has a contract with the Bundesliga outfit until the summer of 2027, any move for him would cost a significant fee, which immediately puts him out of Barcelona’s reach at this point.
Indeed, the situation at the Catalan capital is far from ideal, considering that they were unable to provide guarantees over the registration of Stefan Bajcetic, who ended up opting for RB Salzburg instead.
Furthermore, Jonathan Tah could be seen as a more viable option as his contract at Bayer Leverkusen expires in 2025 and he is open to the switch.
