Newcastle United have secured the signing of Charlton defender Lesecond Yeutembip and beaten a host of Premier League rivals to a deal for highly-rated West Brom midfielder Jayden Kouossu.

Yeutembip is a 14-year-old centre-back who comes from a Charlton Academy that has produced a number of Premier League players over the years such as Ezri Konsa, Joe Gomez, Jermaine Defoe, two fellow Mags in Scott Parker and Jonjo Shelvey along with a current Newcastle United star in Nick Pope.

The rangy defender traveled with the U15s for a pre-season event in Japan back in early August, where he featured in a defeat to a J-League youth side in Tokyo during a trial period.

As previously reported by Academy expert the Secret Scout, we can also confirm that Baggies talent Jayden Kouossu has chosen Newcastle United, where he impressed on trial before he was handed the chance to impress at Chelsea and Fulham.

The powerful midfielder can operate as a No.6 or No.8 and was born in Milan before moving to England at a young age. Despite being eligible for U14 football last season, Kouossu shone at U15 and U16 level with West Brom and joins Yeutembip in our U15 ranks, although there is a chance he is fast-tracked to our U16s as a result of his recent progress.

As we revealed last month, Newcastle have also recruited Theo Benjamin –  the son of former Leicester, Brighton and Crystal Palace forward Trevor Benjamin – along with CJ Afumuzor; the former Portsmouth talent whose move we reported on back in June.
