ALLEN 1-0 WAKELIN (4-52)Wakelin content to knock reds safe in this safety battle. Holding a very decent 48-point lead with five of the seven reds near the top cush. Heading for over an hour of play in this match. ALLEN 1-0 WAKELIN (4-52)Wakelin with a stout pot on a long red, and lands perfectly on black. Puts together a nice run of 52, but then loses the white and misses a red to right centre. Again, not making the most of a very decent opening. Not much is safe if Allen can launch the counter offensive. But he can’t land on a red off green. Just safety to follow. ALLEN 0-0 WAKELIN (71-49)A 46-minute frame is won by Allen. Wakelin went for a long brown. Butchered the attempt really, and left brown over left middle. In goes the brown and blue by the Northern Irishman. And that is a 1-0 lead.ALLEN 0-0 WAKELIN (62-49)First frame heading for 40 minutes, and still difficult to pick a winner. Wakelin sees white disappear during an elongated safety joust, but Allen still requires brown, blue and pink. Still four remaining colours on deck. ALLEN 0-0 WAKELIN (58-49)Allen drops in yellow. So will need green and brown when chance presents itself. Allen’s tactical play on top. 30 minutes and counting of tough matchplay snooker in this first frame. Wakelin with green potted to reduce arrears, but nothing more to come at that visit. ALLEN 0-0 WAKELIN (56-46)Tough old joust on the colours with green near a side cushion in baulk. Allen holding a lead of 10 points after Wakelin failed to build on his early opportunity. ALLEN 0-0 WAKELIN (40-46)Wakelin handed a reprieve as Allen slips up on 20, but ends up pushing the boat out with a really difficult plant on reds. Nowhere near the pocket. That was so tough. Allen back at table. ALLEN 0-0 WAKELIN (14-39)Disaster for Wakelin as a safety blunder presents Mark with an easy opener to left centre. Chance to make some progress for the Antrim man. ALLEN 0-0 WAKELIN (0-39)Loses the white ball on 39. Just the safety shot to follow as he nudges the green onto a side cushion. A decent enough start from the former Shoot Out champion. ALLEN 0-0 WAKELIN (0-30)Decent opening red by Chris is rolled in from mid-range with some self-belief. Holds for the blue, and opportunity to get hand on table, and pot a few balls early on. A very heavy break-builder when the mood takes him. ALLEN 0-0 WAKELIN (0-0)Chris Wakelin gets the action up and running with a tidy enough break-off shot. First player to five frames will take on Neil Robertson or Barry Hawkins in the semi-finals on Saturday. RESULT: TRUMP 3-5 WU”I didn’t enjoy it one bit,” said Trump “I’m just quite happy to get out, and practise for a few days. I’m happy to go home. I’ve had a great start to the season. Wu was the better player. I hope he goes on, and fulfils his potential.” RESULT: TRUMP 3-5 WU”He’s got it all this kid, fabulous to watch,” said six-time world finalist Jimmy White on Eurosport. “He looked the stronger player from start to finish,” comments former Masters winner Alan McManus. “You can’t pay him a greater compliment than that.”TRUMP 3-4 WU (1-62)A run of 62 from Wu before a plant on two reds. Just fails to drop. Judd needing a snooker to keep his title dream alive. But black doesn’t drop from holing the red, and Judd has seen enough. Wu through to the last four. TRUMP 3-4 WU (0-52)A red with the rest is another excellent pot by Wu, and he tucks away a blue seconds later as break goes beyond 50. Handling the heat well. Not much more required at this visit. TRUMP 3-4 WU (0-43)Wu inching towards the semi-finals as break reaches 43. Pots a mid-range red to continue break, and is on yellow to continue his run to the winning post. Or so he hopes. TRUMP 3-4 WU (0-20)Trump again sticks up a red early in the eighth frame. Wu with a brave pot on blue to follow to left centre. Can he steel himself here, and put this match away? Will need to do his work without pink and blacks. TRUMP 2-4 WU (94-32)Some stunning powerful pots on brown, blue and pink to finish off the frame by Judd. Back to 4-3 behind with a 56 break ending matters in a timely fashion. Can Wu recover here? TRUMP 2-4 WU (47-32)Judd must be reading the signs here because his opponent is wobbling. Judd misses an easy red, but another chance to win frame and match is passed up by Wu as he misses a straight red. Nerves in play now. A second chance in this frame goes astray. And that is going to cost him the frame.TRUMP 2-4 WU (16-18)Well, that is a huge blunder by Wu among the balls. Ended up having to bridge over the white attempting a red. Nowhere near potting angle, and contribution ends on 18. Trump leaps out of his seat after probably fearing the worst. TRUMP 2-4 WU (0-12)Wu led 4-0 in Saudi Arabia, and lost five straight frames. Will he have that in his mind? Well, every chance he could put this away here and now as Judd goes for a plant on reds. Nowhere near potting angle, and suddenly the door is open for Wu to go to work. TRUMP 2-3 WU (48-78)Judd leaves an edge for Wu to attack, and he slides in the blue before the pink disappears seconds later. And that will do the job for this frame. Wu into a 4-2 lead. Needing one more frame for victory. Trump with a highest break of only 48 in this contest. TRUMP 2-3 WU (48-60)A superb cameo break of 31 from Wu to edge 12 points clear heading for the final three colours. Wu opting to run safe after slotting brown. TRUMP 2-3 WU (48-29)Well, one wrong move by Wu looks like it may be so costly for the 20-year-old Chinese player. Created a fantastic opening, but it all petered out. Trump races to 47, but then misses a straight red. That is a surprise. Gasps from the packed crowd in Brentwood. TRUMP 2-3 WU (5-22)Superb long red by Wu is followed up by a brave pot on pink to left centre. This is suddenly a real chance to press here. No thought of safety in the pot on pink, and he looks like he fancies the job here. But he then misses a red to right centre after losing the white ball. Chance gone. TRUMP 2-2 WU (42-71)Wu sinks a cracking green from the D after Judd goes in off after escaping from a snooker. Wu lucky to get snooker, but in goes brown, blue and a double on pink. He is back in front again at 3-2. Judd with work to do. TRUMP 2-2 WU (42-49)41 break from Judd comes to an end as he misses a tough green. Flukes a snooker, which Wu escapes from. Judd then sees a green down side cushion rattle in the jaws. Getting very tense with five colours left on deck. TRUMP 2-2 WU (9-49)Judd manages to sneak in a red to right middle off another red. Was that fluke? Won’t matter. This is a glorious chance to punish his opponent for missing among the balls. TRUMP 2-2 WU (1-49)Has put away these reds with some confidence, but also been forced to take plenty of smaller colours. And then misses a tricky red with the rest. Seven reds left up. And a lead of 48 points. TRUMP 2-2 WU (1-8)All the reds have headed up to the baulk end of the table. Not easy to sort out the table from here with white down behind the black. Judd trying to work out where he can leave the white safe, and not stick up a red. Rolls in a stunning red to yellow pocket, but forced to confront a tough green to left middle, and ends up missing. Golden chance for Wu to cash in. TRUMP 2-2 WU (0-0)This frame taking its time to get moving. Trump happy to bide his time, and wait for chances to present themselves. TRUMP 2-2 WU (0-0)We are back with the fifth frame of this tight quarter-final. “Judd struggling with the conditions,” said six-time world finalist Jimmy White on Eurosport. “But he is a winning machine.”A THRILLING OPENING CENTURY FROM WU’Looks a million dollars when he’s playing like this’ – Wu opens up against Trump with centuryTRUMP 2-2 WU (0-0)And this match is all square as Trump ends up in a snooker, and opts against playing on. Finely poised in quest to reach the semi-finals. TRUMP 2-1 WU (17-66)Trump with opportunity to produce a huge steal, but a red to centre comes back out, and Wu won’t be punished. Heading level at the break unless Judd can find two snookers. Trump thunders home long red to open second frame in style against WuTRUMP 2-1 WU (4-47)Wu missing a tough cut on a black, but Judd can’t sink a mid-range red of his own. Wu then comes up with a sublime piece of cueing to drill in a red to green pocket off side cush. Suddenly, chance is there to level us all up at 2-2. But he then misses an easy red on cusp of frame. That won’t make him feel good. And he fails to poke home a long red to open door for the Trump counter attack.TRUMP 2-1 WU (4-28)Wu first to the punch in the fourth frame. Smashes in a couple of terrific blues, but then misses a tricky red near a side rail. Groans from crowd. They didn’t expect him to jaw that. TRUMP 1-1 WU (73-4)A rapid 48 run from Trump to see off this third frame. Not huge breaks, but all very dominant so far. TRUMP 1-1 WU (55-4)Two more frames before the mid-session break, and suddenly Judd has chance to seal the deal in this frame for a 2-1. These players not messing about. Both very attacking figures, who don’t hang around at close range. TRUMP 1-1 WU (25-0)Judd has won all three of their previous meetings on the circuit, including coming back from 4-0 down to win 5-4 in the last 32 of the Saudi Arabia Masters earlier this month. Judd bullets in a long red at the start of the third frame. Long game is clearly working well. TRUMP 0-1 WU (77-30)Opportunity squandered by Wu late in the opening frame. And it is all level at 1-1 in the race to five. Warming up nicely in Brentwood. TRUMP 0-1 WU (45-30)A tricky red to left middle eludes Wu on 30. So Judd will return to table with chance to put this second frame to bed. In goes red along top cushion to leave Wu needing a snooker on colours. Looks like 1-1 incoming. TRUMP 0-1 WU (45-13)Great recovery pot by Judd as he manages to pick out a plant on reds, but he then loses position. Pink and black being out of commission hasn’t helped. Forced to declare on 45, and then misses a long red. So Wu has chance of a counter punch. TRUMP 0-1 WU (22-0)Well, that was some start to Friday by Wu in Brentwood, but Trump responds by carting in a pristine long red early in the second frame. And he has hand on table to score a few more here. A fabulous split on reds off the blue, and suddenly this is a real chance to restore parity at 1-1 in no time at all. TRUMP 0-0 WU (22-115)That is a quite majestic break of 108 from Wu. Judd missed an easy black and that was that from him. Was in first, but Wu was in last with a terrific clearance. What a start to the match by the talented Chinese player. TRUMP 0-0 WU (22-52)An unexpected miss on a black off spot by Trump, and he is forced to take a seat. Wu piecing together these balls with some ease in his quest to reach a second ranking semi-final today. TRUMP 0-0 WU (22-29)Judd producing only 22 off the bat before he breaks down, and suddenly Wu has a chance he didn’t expect to build an advantage in the opening frame. In goes red to right centre, and on goes Wu. TRUMP 0-0 WU (5-0)Off we go then for the first frame of a possible nine. Wu goes for a long red, but too hard and the pocket doesn’t take the red at that angle or pace. First chance of the day at close range falls to Trump.
