LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — When Nye County’s sheriff took a head-on method to questions concerning the homeless in Pahrump, it did not take lengthy for the dialog to veer off the street.

Sheriff Joe McGill defined the explanations his deputies cannot sweep the park or arrest folks strolling down the road in a video posted on social media on Aug. 29. Commenters jumped on the subject, asserting that Las Vegas police are bringing vagrants to Pahrump, and that it has been occurring for years.

“They mostly are brought here by the Vegas police. It’s the loop. First they are arrested for vagrant in Vegas and then after they are discharged from jail they just bring them out to Pahrump. My Dr told me in 2010 that this has been going on for years. Then the individual gradually gets a ride back to Vegas and the loop starts again,” based on one commenter on Fb.

One other remark mentioned, partly, “Many of them have no work ethic whatsoever so it’s pointless. Like today’s young people they moan at the idea of having to get a real job. It’s easier to ask welfare for handouts. Las Vegas doesn’t want them so they shove them over to Pahrump. When was the last time you saw a homeless person in Vegas??? Like not.”
