Whereas we’re ready to see if there’s a brand new HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K replace in retailer for this week, Apple on Tuesday launched a stunning new product that nobody noticed coming: The iPhone Pocket. It’s principally what it seems like: a wearable pocket designed to suit your iPhone.
Designed in collaboration with the studio of late Japanese dressmaker Issey Miyake, who famously designed Steve Jobs’ trademark black turtleneck, the iPhone Pocket contains a “ribbed open structure” that stretches to completely enclose your iPhone in addition to “more of a user’s everyday items.” Apple factors out that the stretchable 3D printed materials “subtly reveals its contents and allows users to peek at their iPhone display.”
The design is harking back to the iPod Socks, which have been launched in November 2004. Obtainable in a pack of six colours, the colourful accent was meant to behave as a smooth slipcase for an iPod whereas touring. Nevertheless, and not using a strap or a snap, the iPod Sock was considerably impractical as a carrying case.
