The Metropolitan Police have initiated a homicide investigation following the fatal shooting of a 55-year-old man in north-west London.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire at West End Close in Stonebridge, Brent, at 21:35 GMT on Friday. Officers provided emergency first aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
No suspects have been apprehended as of now. The victim’s next of kin have been notified and are receiving support from dedicated officers, according to the police.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John stated, “Investigations are progressing rapidly, and my team is diligently working to uncover the details surrounding this man’s unfortunate death.”
“Our condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends during this profoundly challenging time.”
“Undoubtedly, this incident will raise concerns within the local community and beyond. We have increased patrols in the vicinity to enhance safety. I want to assure the public that our investigation is a top priority.”
Det Ch Insp John encouraged anyone with information to reach out to the police at 101 or to submit an anonymous tip to Crimestoppers.
“We believe there was a large crowd in the area at the time of the incident, and we are eager to hear from those individuals,” he added.
