Las Vegas – Barry Manilow postponed his February residency dates at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino to prioritize full recovery after surgery removed a cancerous spot from his left lung.[1][2]

A routine health check following prolonged bronchitis uncovered stage-one lung cancer in Barry Manilow last December. The 82-year-old singer had just completed Christmas charity concerts when symptoms persisted despite treatment. His doctor ordered an MRI, which revealed the spot on his left lung.[1][3]

Doctors caught the issue early, before it spread. Manilow shared the news the day after his final Palm Desert performance. “It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. That’s the good news,” he wrote at the time. No chemotherapy or radiation proved necessary. He planned surgery promptly and rescheduled initial January tour stops.[4]

Positive Progress After the Procedure

Manilow underwent successful surgery in December to excise the cancerous area. Recent updates confirm he feels strong and active. “I’m doing great and recovering very well after my surgery. I’ve been getting exercise and spending some time in the studio, which has been fantastic,” the singer posted this week.[5]
